*** Professors should educate students to become helpful members of the society, to create a global infrastructure for a better world. Remember! Plato, Aristotle had no companies or patents. But their teachings built civilizations! Being a professor is not "a job" but a mission.

- Emmanuel Charpentier and Jennifer Doudna @doudna_lab (Nobel Chemistry 2020) were just recognized. Congratulations once more.
- Advice. Relax a bit. So what if you got a low score from NIH? What if the Gordon Conference did not invite you to speak? Life is not NIH, NSF, awards and self-made praises on Twitter. Family is No 1.
- Just a small observation that few are addressing. Societies are charging about $1,000 for registration for their meetings. Isn't this an exorbitant amount? Who can afford this, plus travel, plus hotel, plus food, plus parking or other transportation? Just asking....
- When I read/hear researchers being proud of the cover pages in journals, I think what is hidden behind all this... Vanity! Well funded lab "burn" funds for cover figures. $3k to $5k paid to publishers for each cover page. Please use your funds to support poor students instead...
- Today Wiley announced this wonderful issue that just came out onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10… A big THANK YOU to all who contributed to this special issue and to Kristi Anseth and Younan Xia for the idea and editing @UTBiomedical @TexasChE @CockrellSchool @DellMedSchool @UTAustin
- At last!!! NOBEL PRIZE IN CHEMISTRY 2020. Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer Doudna. This is great!
- A fascinating new site for solving HYDROGELS PROBLEMS has been prepared and posted by @NateRichbourg of the @NPeppas labs hydrogeldesign.com/?fbclid=IwAR3d… It includes helpful sections on The Models (used, from work in our group), Swelling, Stiffness, Diffusivity and Tools. MUST BE READ!
- Happy birthday to Bob Langer. Today we are the same age (born four days apart). NAP
- They ask me how and why I read so many papers. Because without reading the ChE, BME, Pharmacy, Materials, Polymers, Chemistry literature I would be scientifically dead long time ago...
- Happy birthday Bob Langer. Always healthy and always leading the world in Science, Engineering and Medicine. Your best friend from NNN.
- Published today. "Cross-evaluation of stiffness measurement methods for hydrogels", authored by @NateRichbourg @ManuelKRausch1 and @NPeppas in Polymer. Available online September 11, 2022, 125316, in press, journal pre-proof. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
- This is a glorious photo of our newest Nobel laureate, chemical engineer, colleague and friend. We salute @francesarnold FRANCES ARNOLD, 2019 Nobel Prize in Chemistry Photo by The @NobelPrize.
- Bob Langer and @NPeppas born four days apart, classmates at MIT, 47 years together, friends for ever.
