    A statement regarding the University of Iowa's Esports Club situation from Friday, October 27th.
    On Friday an incident occurred in a scrimmage outside of NACE Starleague competition between two teams. One team changed their name to another institution's name (Maryville University) and during the scrim they made sexist comments about one of the players on the opposing team. Some members of the public brought this to the attention of a Playfly Esports staff member who shared this information with the NACE home office on Monday. The University of Iowa’s esports club, where the team in question resides, has moved ahead with their own sanctions against two of the students who were primarily involved in the offense. NACE Starleague will be honoring and enforcing that sanction against those two students. Personally, we applaud the esports club at the University of Iowa for taking what steps they can to address this situation - toxicity in esports is a cancer in this space and stands against everything we are trying to build together in scholastic esports.
