Here is a photo of an undetermined Georgia Tech home game during the 1918 college football season. That's when the sport was hit by the Spanish flu and the end of World War I. The photo was taken by a student, Thomas Carter. It was provided by Georgia Tech alumnus Andy McNeal.

Undeniable fact: If not for the reporting of @Brett_McMurphy and @CFBHeather, Zach Smith would still be employed by Ohio State and the truth about the death of Jordan McNair at Maryland would not be known. It's called journalism.

I got chills listening to Army Coach Jeff Monken talking about his team on XM radio. Somebody needs to figure out a way that 9-2 Army can play in a bowl game. These men represent all that is good about college football. There has to be a way.

Kudos to the Georgia fans who will wear pink to honor Wendy Anderson, the late wife of Arkansas State coach Blake Anderson. Some on Twitter wondered why such a gesture for someone the fans did not know. Answer: It is a simple act of kindness for a fellow human being. Try it.

Show of hands: How many of you watched the entire Austin Peay-Central Arkansas game?

Here's how negotiation will go: UCF: We want to play home and home Florida: Nope. We can do 2 for 1 UCF: What about 1 home, 1 away, 1 neutral Florida: Nope. We can do 2 for 1 UCF: We've won a lot of games and shouldn't have to do that Florida: I have USF on the other line. Thanks

Every year there is a morning in July with a hint of a cool breeze that tells us that CFB season is coming. Today is that day.

I know what the final score was but trust me. Alabama dominated this football game.

Nick Saban just said that Georgia deserves to be in the playoff as well. “Georgia is the best team we have played.”

When you look at the story of the Hilinski family on ESPN or watch what the Georgia fans are doing for Arkansas State Coach Blake Anderson, you are reminded that CFB for all of its problems, does so much good. It brings us together. It helps us celebrate. It helps us heal.

I remember my very first meeting with Nick Saban after he got the Alabama job. I asked him what was going to be his biggest challenge. He said: "Making people understand there will only be one voice in this program. And that's mine." Mission accomplished.

The highest professional compliment I can give @CecilHurt is that he was a writer that other writers always read. When something was happening with Alabama football you didn't have the full story until you read what Cecil wrote about it.

And here's the issue. If you believe an undefeated Power 5 champ can't be left out, then you don't want to pick the four best teams. It really shouldn't matter what has happened in the past. This committee is charged with picking the best four teams TODAY!!!

Every July, without fail, there is one morning with just a hint of a cool breeze that tells us that college football is coming. This is that morning. We've missed you, old friend.
