Got 4th today at the Play TCG Online Regionals with Carrot.
It's my best performance in a large event, and I did it with my favorite un-tierd leader.
I was undefeated until the last round but Fizzled into 4th. I'm very sad.
I'm trying to put my thoughts on OP's formats into words.
You have a powerlevel defining anniversary set. Then you get a refined format around 1-2 decks or colors. And then you get a post banlist jungle format.
This game tends to get slowly warped around a few cards then reset
Green Uta works as a solution to the Zoro MU. it forces a carrot play and gives us extra opportunities to play searchers/Zou/2ks. It's also good generic aggro vs imu and the luffys.
A reminder that you can get a Japanese copy of S:P Little Knight for less than $10. The TCG version is only more expensive because Konami actively manipulates box pull rates and increases western product prices.
Konami actively hates you as a consumer
H.A.T. format is where it's at. It's a wonderful mixture of modern archetypal and engine deck building with a much older slower pace. It's also got one of the widest pools of meta decks ever seen.
Could they try it and see success, Sure.
Should they try it, No.
That type of cash grab will see a slow decline in yugioh's 1st party IP, similar to MTG. Especially without a big Yugioh anime, Konami would hard pivot into more and more crossovers. It's a long term poison TBH
Reminder that s:P little knight is less than $10 in the OCG. All because TCG Konami manipulates pull rates, upshifts cards in rarity, and charges more for boxes.
There are no secret locked cards in the OCG.
Konami actively hates TCG players
Thoughts on Carrot for OP13 & EB03:
- The Ace and Imu MUs aren't horrible and may even be Carrot favored. Carrot can leverage it's extra don! to aggro Imu and can outgrind Ace thanks to it's slower early game. However it is very dependent on Ace's techs
- The Zoro MU gets worse
This is a tier 0 format officially now.
But like a Zoodiac Tier 0 format and not a Tearlament Tier 0 Format.
Pretty standard form for yugioh. Just a shame it's so expensive. It's probably very fun.
