- It’s now official! The DC Cherry Blossoms have reached PEAK BLOOM! 🌸
- ON THIS DAY: Just 9 years ago today...December 19th, 2009...DC was hit with it's largest single day December snowfall on record (15") during a storm that would total 16.4" @ DCA. The first of what would be 3 major blizzards during the 2009/10 winter. I remember it well! Do you?
- Coming soon to DC... Sunsets after 6pm. 🎉 Also coming soon... Sunsets after 7pm! 🥳
- For the contiguous United States, here are the remaining Solar Eclipses for this century. Crazy to think about how old I'll be for some of these...😅
- Hottest *feeling* major city in the United States? For the 2nd day in a row...it's DC...
- Now THAT'S what you call an arctic air outbreak. Yikes!
00:00 - No major shift with GRAF simulations for Hurricane Helene, major hit to Florida coming tomorrow. HWRF, which is NOAA's best hurricane model, was scary at the 12z run peaking at 159mph, which would make it a category 5. Official forecast from NHC is peak at category 4 strength.

- A 600dm+ ridge centered over the Mid-Atlantic is just insanity. We’ve maxed out the scale. SERIOUS heat next week. 🔥
- WATCH: Can clearly see the polar origins of the upcoming cold outbreak coming straight out of the Arctic Circle. Subfreezing temperatures could reach all the way to the Gulf of Mexico. A true to name arctic blast early this weekend into early next week!
00:00 - So it begins... We are losing over 2 minutes of daylight a day, and it's the last week that the sun sets after 8pm in DC. ☀️ ...fall is indeed, coming. 🍂
- Mentioned several days ago how the brutally cold Januarys of 1977 & 1985 were showing up as pattern analogs… New Euro rolling in…it’s showing one of the most extreme cold air outbreaks I’ve ever seen from the ECMWF in the East mid-January. 🥶 Probably overdone but like…wow.Funny to see January 1977 popping up in analog years for the middle of January. This month was COLD...🥶 ❄️Second coldest January on record nationally ❄️5th Coldest January on record for DC. ❄️DC picked up 9.7" of snow. ❄️So cold that it snowed in Miami, FL (only known time
