- Replying to @MichiganDOCThe DDC was opened on Aug. 1, 2013, and operated under an interagency agreement between the Detroit Police Department (DPD) and MDOC during the last 12 years. The DDC holds all pre-arraigned detainees 17 years of age or older in the City of Detroit for up to 72 hours.
- FACILITY UPDATE: Following passage by the legislature and the Detroit City Council, the department has transitioned operation of the Detroit Detention Center (DDC) to the City of Detroit as of today, August 1, 2025.
