As someone who was a graphic designer for nearly 20 years I disagree. The vast majority of design work is quick turn around and low value. Most will only survive by using the tools themselves and then cutting their prices to compete with customers simply doing it themselves.
In my latest artwork, The Hierophant, an insectoid throne blocks a portal with a terrifying marionette and somehow it perfectly represents how I feel about the world. I'd love to know if it resonates with anyone else who feels the pull of the metaverse.
I do know people lived through the 50s yeah. But these are idealised stylised representations like stock images designed specifically to sell to consumers. Rose tinted nostalgia is something to be wary of, not lean into. It’ll only make you less happy.
