A memorable hands-on introduction to the @MercianRegiment as its Colonel-in-Chief.
A real education 'in the field' and understanding the work of modern infantry in the @BritishArmy
The Mercian Regiment is honoured with the announcement that His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales, has been appointed Colonel-in-Chief of The Mercian Regiment.
Following His Majesty’s Accession, The King is pleased to announce further military appointments for working members of the Royal Family.
The new appointments will continue to reflect the close relationship between the Armed Forces and the Royal Family in His Majesty’s reign.
It is with great sadness that we must announce the death of our previous Regimental Mascot, Corporal Derby XXXII, at the age of 8.
Prior to his retirement in July this year, he became the very first Regimental Mascot in his lineage to be promoted to Corporal.
We would like to congratulate our regimental mascot, Derby XXXII, on his promotion to Lance Corporal! 🎉
He was promoted this afternoon at Weeton Barracks by the Regiment's Colonel in Chief, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales.

#OnThisDay in 1812: Lt James MacPherson & the 45th (Nottinghamshire) Regiment successfully stormed the Spanish fortress town of Badajoz; a crucial victory for the English.
We commemorate Badajoz Day by raising a scarlet jacket above RHQ Mercian & locations where we are based.
The Mercian Regiment would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to our Colonel-in-Chief HRH The Prince of Wales. 🎉
From everybody in the Mercian Regiment, we hope you have an excellent day, sir!
