Since being elected, I’ve made sure the people of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire are heard in the very heart of Whitehall. It was really encouraging to hear the new Prime Minister commit to greater devolution at a meeting with UK Mayors this morning. This will be game changing.
I want to congratulate @Keir_Starmer on his election as Prime Minister. This new government has spoken about handing down more powers and funding to our region, meaning we can begin to make the East Midlands the best place to live, to work and to learn.

Today, Claire Ward officially became the first Mayor of the East Midlands after signing her paperwork at beautiful @EHBolsover. Follow this account for tweets from #MayorClaire and the @EastMidsCCA team.
Week one: Complete ✅
I’ve had a fantastic first week as Mayor of the East Midlands, as we embark on our mission to make our region the best place to live, to work and to learn 🚀
Ten new Elizabeth Line trains will be built by Alstom at Derby, providing certainty for the factory 🚆
It was a pleasure to welcome @MayorofLondon to the factory earlier to meet some of the team who will be getting to work on this £370m deal in the coming weeks!
An incredibly proud moment for @gary_godden as he is officially sworn in as @NottsOPCC 👏
I look forward to working with him to keep Nottinghamshire's streets, communities and businesses safe. He will also restore credibility to this hugely important role.

From day one I’ve committed to putting our region on the map, celebrating and promoting the destinations and attractions we have across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. Today, I launched my Visit East Midlands campaign at @ChatsworthHouse
🚆 Great to be at @EastMidRailway yesterday. It’s exciting to see the investment they’re putting into the next generation of both trains and talent.
As Mayor, I’m backing our railways and will make sure our public transport works for the benefit of commuters and communities.
Creating exciting opportunities for young people is a huge part of my mayoralty, so it's a pleasure to meet Steven Gerrard at his new @SGerrardAcademy at @staplefordtown. Congratulations to @broxtowebc for making this happen right here in Nottinghamshire!
☀️Beautiful weather and a great turnout for Wellow Maypole Festival. Events like this are a really important part of our regional heritage and culture. It's another gem that needs to be part of our Visit East Midlands campaign which I’m working hard to bring to life.

Since officially starting the job on May 7, I've made sure Team @EastMidsCCA has hit the ground running. Here's what we've already achieved, and there's so much more to come!
A huge milestone today as I chaired the first @EastMidsCCA board meeting since my election. We made some really important decisions which kickstart the work we’re going to do.
