- It's amazing John Mara fired Reese, who won 2 Super Bowls, in-season but is giving respect/leniency to Gettleman, who is one of the worst things to ever happen to NYG. The Giants are an absolute embarrassment & won't change until Mara realizes he's the reason they're terrible.
- For all the talk of deGrom, Cole and Scherzer, little did we know Nestor Cortes is actually Gotham’s ace.
- The Mets look like an absolute juggernaut. My Lord.
- An unfortunate Friday news dump: Today is my last day w/ Yahoo Sports as part of their layoffs. Enjoyed working w/ great folks on the baseball staff. Thanks for reading/interacting & to the fans for making it exciting. Enjoyed my time covering the Mets. DM's open, email in bio
- The Mahomes rushing over under was 31.5. He was at 44 before that final dive. Those 3 Patrick Mahomes kneels were for -15. Finished at 29. Talk about an all-time gambling bad beat.
- Mets had ROTY and CY and a batting champ candidate. And finished in 3rd and missed playoffs. That's not good.
- Robinson Cano has 4 homers in 212 AB. The Mets starting rotation (JDG/NS/ZW/SM/JV) has 5 homers in 153 AB.
- Replying to @MattEhaltVargas then got into a shouting match with the reporter, over a staredown, and said at one point: "Ill knock you the f*** out, bro." He charged such reporter and had to held back by Gomez and Syndergaard.
- One league source described the Mets internal situation now as a "mess."
- You really gotta give Mets scouts credit. Hit on Nimmo, Dom, Conforto all in first round, Alonso/McNeil in later rounds. The Sandy regime (which is still in place) does not get enough credit for the talent it drafted.
- What an indictment these last 2 years are on Brodie. Sold out to win now, traded all the prospects, gave up JARRED FREAKING KELENIC and the Mets can't even make the damn Everyone-Gets-In playoff structure. You can't go all-out to win now and then fail to win. Terrible job.
- Adam Eaton on Citi Field, house of horrors: "You can’t ride those waves, you can’t do that. Your rock bottoms are going to continue to be around and if we’re worried about yesterday it’s not going to be good. DeGrom doesn’t give a crap if we’re feeling sorry for ourselves."
