It was a privilege to speak at the Volunteer Appreciation Sunday Service at Drighlington Methodist Church.
The service celebrated all the people who give their time to support others as well as the organisations that keep our communities together.
Thank you for all that you do.
Important surgery at New Farnley Community Centre today, thank you to everyone who made time to speak with me.

Bonus good news: the future of teaching looks really promising.
Today’s stats show one of the lowest rates of teachers leaving their jobs on record.
There’s also been a 13% rise in people training to teach, smashing recruitment targets in subjects like maths and science.

We have 4,654 more teachers in those schools and colleges compared to 2024.

I lost count of the number of conversations I had with Michael over the last four years on this issue. He was a dedicated public servant and community campaigner to the last. I’m so pleased that he and the group were able to achieve their ultimate objective and save the ground.
Michael served as MP for the old Leeds West constituency, which included Farnley & Wortley. More recently he was Chair of the TV Harrison Action Group, which was set up to save the historic ground in Wortley.
