- Got a msg from an angry dad. He will keep his children home frm school so they don't have to learn Te Reo Māori. I want to clarify, te reo was beaten out of my nan's generation. We're not going to beat it back into this generation. Sir your children will enjoy learning it.

- I remember Moana Jackson telling a room of Māori at a nursing conference a few years ago, not to fall for coloniser narratives that pit us against immigrants. Building bridges of solidarity especially with migrants of colour is our decolonisation work.
- After weeks of 1-on-1 kōrero among 4 of my neices in the most unprotected group (young Māori) & some near fractures in our relationship, they got vaccinated this week. And our whanungatanga survived. Enough to cry about. Came down to access and dropping the 'judgy aunty' vibe.
