- Is anyone now left in any doubt that the decision by #TNA to try and stop @RW_UNP becoming @PodujanaParty Executive President was right?
- I condemn outright the burning of the private residence of @RW_UNP Violence will not solve anything and is counter-productive. I have had differences of opinion with the PM since he took that post, but this cannot be condoned in anyway. Please end the violence now.
- There’s nothing called a “Police Curfew” in terms of the law. This is an unlawful announcement to discourage people to gather tomorrow to protest against the government. fb.watch/e7-W2N9Z7n/
- #Galle_Face_Aragalaya leaders met with me this evening. Assured them of our support and solidarity. If any Police Officer attempts to enforce the so called illegal “Police Curfew” he/she will have to face proceedings for infringement of fundamental rights along with the #IGP.
- Parliament has again shown that it is in the clutches of @PodujanaParty that had lost its mandate. I repeat that the P must be dissolved. @anuradisanayake made a good point: number of those that publicly endorsed @DullasOfficial is more than 113! What happened then???
- Please desist from any form of violence. All that effort at keeping the ‘aragalaya’ non-violent will be lost if they turn this into a violent struggle. Please exercise restraint. Change will come!
00:00 - Great call. I too support this. A virtual meeting must be held tomorrow at the same time as decided at the last meeting.Security is a grave concern, not only for Parliamentarians but also to the public. A virtual party leaders' meeting should be held without delay to address the situation before there is anymore harm or destruction.
- “The President has completely lost legitimacy, people want him to go home, and the Parliament will soon vote on a motion... Mr. Wickremesinghe had no legitimacy in the current Parliament right from the beginning. He did not even win in his constituency.”
- #SLPP should not have a role in establishing the future government of the country. Along with @GotabayaR his party @PodujanaParty has also lost the mandate and ought not be allowed to exercise their majority in #Parliament mediaview.aljazeera.com/video/lXJUpSa7…
- Siyambalapitiya replaces Siyambalapitiya! The count is now clear. The real opposition in SL parliament is 65 (possibly +5 others who were absent today). The drama of the “dissentients” was exposed today.
- The President, PM and the IGP should resign forthwith! PM for instigating and supplying the hoodlums to attack peaceful protestors, the IGP and the President for deliberately filibustering until the attacks could be carried out before acting. #GoHomeGota #GoHomeRajapaksas
- A picture worth a thousand words! A protestor helping a riot policeman who was struggling with teargas that was fired by themselves at the protesters last evening in Fort, by pouring water into his eyes. This is what makes #GoHomeGota protest special!Yes, still it is a "Revolution Of Love." #lka #SriLanka #SriLankaProtests #GoHomeGota #GoHomeRajapakshas #GotaGoHome #GotaGottaGo #පන්නමු
- We call upon #President @GotabayaR to immediately rescind this gazette notification. You cannot stifle protests and opposition to the regime by declaring a state of #emergency. I call upon fellow members of #Parliament not to approve this ill-advised move.President Gotabaya Rajapaksa issues a Gazette Extraordinary declaring a public Emergency in Sri Lanka with effect from 01 April 2022. @GotabayaR
