My social media strategy: 1. Relentlessly encourage, edify & inform. 2. Ignore trolls, mockers & slanderers into oblivion. 3. Starve dissensionists, narcissists, & errorists of the attention they crave. 4. Point people to sound people & resources.

My mother passed into glory early this Lord’s Day morning. She put a song of praise to God in my mouth and in my heart all my days. Endlessly & Deeply thankful to God for her.

To the new pastor: Be humble. Work hard. Listen, watch, & learn for a season before trying to make changes too quickly. Preach the word. Love the people. Visit. Pray fervently. Pour yourself into your leaders. Love your wife & children well. Love God more than you love your work.

Isn’t it interesting how we can be patient with ourselves in our own sins, but impatient with others in their sins? It’s been said, “If you want to get Christians angry, put them around other Christians that sin differently than they do.”

Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, Prone to leave the God I love; Here’s my heart, O take and seal it, Seal it for Thy courts above.

Two weeks ago, the pastor of a small Presbyterian church in SC concluded a 41 year ministry in his congregation. You’ve never heard of him, but he was and is godly, learned and faithful. I’m thankful for his life, ministry & family.

Isn't interesting that the Apostle Paul, in his list of qualifications for elders in the church, only lists one competency: ''able to teach?'' Everything else is character, and it's either personal character or marital character.

Our motto for public worship in our congregations ought to be: "Read the Bible, preach the Bible, pray the Bible, sing the Bible."

    9. Don’t be different on social media from what I am in my life, family, church and ministry. Be the same person online and offline. 10. Don’t give inordinate attention to people whose only “platform” is social media & who elsewhere have little accountability, responsibility.

Any time you hear someone began a sentence with, “Well I know that the Bible says… but I like to think of God as…” Whatever the end of that sentence is, is heresy.
