    You might have seen this video from @LFRSashby of a fire whirl captured at an incident in Swadlincote on Monday. This sight is caused by intense heat rising from the ground, and turbulent wind conditions, and is so rare, our Chief has never witnessed one, 32 years on! #Firenado

    It is with great regret that we announce that Firefighter Andy Watt has sadly passed away whilst on leave. We are devastated and shocked at the sudden and tragic loss of our friend and colleague. (1/2)

    Four of our firefighters heading to Turkey as part of the @UK_ISAR_TEAM to help with the search and rescue mission following the devastating earthquakes.
    UK ISAR are sending an emergency response team to the Republic of Türkiye to assist rescue efforts following the devastating effects of the recent Earthquake which took place Mon 6th February 23. A Heavy Team of 77 UK ISAR team members will support the Search and Rescue mission.

    Andy was in the armed forces before joining Green Watch at Loughborough Fire Station in 2006. He was a true professional and a real credit to the Service. Colleagues described him as ‘a big personality’ and 'a very proud man’. He will be greatly missed. (2/2)

    Our deepest condolences and unwavering support to the families of both Firefighters as they come to terms with this unimaginable loss. Our thoughts are with colleagues in Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue Service, London Fire Brigade, and the family of the member of the public who died.
    National Fire Chiefs Council statement on the Bicester fire.
    “I am devastated by the news that two firefighters have lost their lives responding to a major incident in Bicester on Thursday evening. I am also deeply saddened that a member of the public has also died in the incident.

“Our firefighters are the very best of us, their courage and compassion is what make them so very special”
Chair of the National Fire Chiefs Council, Phil Garrigan, said:
“My thoughts are with their families, friends and colleagues at this incredibly difficult time”.

    The Service lost one of its own yesterday. It is with deep regret we announce that our colleague, friend, and Watch Manager, Jon Partridge, sadly passed away yesterday after a medical emergency. We are devastated and shocked at the tragic loss, and Jon will be greatly missed.
