Getting older as a broadcaster(& as a woman) always scared me,being told there was a shelf life for aging women on camera. Not anymore. This achievement means the world to me. I’m wrapping my arms around this age celebrating the longevity, the lessons & the wisdom that comes w/it
Congrats to our own @LauraOkmin for her 164th network telecast, becoming the 3rd most broadcasted sideline reporter in history. We appreciate everything you've done and continue to do, Laura!

Because I want to talk about WHO Dwayne Haskins was & the growth he was working on. A thread: I talked to Dwayne his first year w/WAS. He was struggling with the outside noise, admitting, “I care too much about what people think.” He told me he was surrounded by negativity and

Being honest… when interviewing @Lj_era8 I try to make my questions quick just so I can get to the end. I live for the, “thank you, miss Laura.”☺️ Great quarterback and simply a lovely person.
"I'm thankful for my teammates and this DUB!" 🙌 #RavensFlock @LauraOkmin is with @Lj_era8 after the @Ravens defeated the #Panthers at home.

I met Demaryius Thomas when he was at Georgia Tech - painfully shy and incredibly sweet. He grew so much as a person but never lost that sweetness & kindness.I asked him if he was happy and this was the picture he sent me. This smile truly epitomizes his light. Devastating.

A conversation I’ll never forget. With all the noise swirling around him, Dwayne quietly talked about “trying to do the best that I can”on and off the field. I wish this world was kinder to these young men & women trying to figure it all out as athletes & humans. Such a kind soul

…and the potential I have to be a great quarterback and person.” I share this with hopes one day people care as much about who these men are as much as they care about their stats. I asked if we could take a picture after such a meaningful conversation. I’m grateful he said yes.

Ladies - do not feel forced into defending our sports knowledge. This is on Cam Newton - NOT ON US. Unacceptable in 2017 to go back to this

The last question I asked Kobe in this interview: “100 years from now a father and his child will walk by Staples and a statue of you & the child will say, daddy, who is that? What do you hope the dad will say?” He paused & broke out into a huge grin, “That was the Black Mamba”

To aspiring journalists devastated/frustrated over this … you will see many who land a “sweet gig” for various reasons - not always deserved. Look away & keep focused on what YOU’RE building - a career. What’s easy won’t last - and what lasts isn’t easy. Keep growing…keep going

We have a dear friend who serves in the National Guard. She just got activated and is heading to DC. She said this is tougher than her deployment to Afghanistan. “I took an oath to protect Americans, not to fight them.” We are beyond broken.

He told me he had a sense of “pleasing everyone else” and was making sure he didn’t do that again. Trying to go back to WHY he plays - because he loves the game. “I’m realizing who I am. I’m not an Ohio State QB, I’m not a first round draft pick. I’m working on ME…

THE privilege of a sideline role is being the 1 person in the entire world who has the opportunity to ask coaches what’s happening in that moment. I can’t express the amount of time it takes to build that trust. Devastated w/the texts I’m getting asking if this is ok. No. Never.

… found it hard to be positive. He told me he was doing everything he could to be around and to create the right energy. Studying extra hard, locking into details and being around people who made him feel good about himself.

Man, every year we go through this. I made $10,500 - so what. It wasn’t right then and isn’t right now. We work to make it better for NEXT generations. Wear your work ethic as a badge of honor - not being treated poorly. Times change - this industry needs to, as well.
