- Today, D.C. lifted its indoor mask mandate for bars & restaurants. For 24 months, hospitality workers have been the enforcers of yo-yoing restrictions intended to keep us safe. Please humor me on this monster thread about what they went through so we don't forget.🧵

- .@MayorBowser just communicated that there will be no press conference today. I wanted to ask her what restaurant hosts should do when they ask customers to mask up per the new mayoral order and the customers produce a photo of her honor maskless instead.
- Staffs were small. Now they’re skeleton. Employees were anxious. Now they’re scared. Hourly workers were counting on holiday money. Now dining rooms are clearing out. The people who cook and serve food want to see their families, but don’t want to risk exposing them. Be kind.
- When a reporter contacts you asking if you happen to have an action photo of your dog eating cicadas for a story and you knock it out of the park. (PSA: Don’t let your dog eat them, potentially dangerous.)
