Yesterday, Ofc. DePierre was 1st officer on scene of a car sinking in the lake @ the Palms of Largo on E Bay Dr. He entered the 5ft deep water & held the elderly female driver's head above water until he could free her. She was transported to the hospital w/ minor injuries.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Officer Brendan Arlington, a sixteen year veteran of the department, of an apparent suicide. His death is a tragic loss and our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and loved ones. You will be missed!
The Largo Police family is in shock over the sudden passing of K9 Oz. K9 Oz was discovered to have an inoperable condition and was put to sleep. K9 Oz served with his handler, Ofc. Nate Hansmann since March and they had many catches. Please keep Nate and family in your prayers.
Largo Police were on the road this morning following Hurricane Milton. Our day shift officers are out assessing damage and on patrol working to keep our community safe.
Please, stay off the roads as there are downed power lines, flooded streets, and streets blocked by debris.
When Floridaβs Top Cop @AGAshleyMoody drops in to surpise Officer DePierre with a Back the Blue award for his lifesaving efforts you know itβs a good day in #LargoFL.
