A temporary cell tower was placed in the northeast part of Lakewood this morning to help residents communicate via phone, text, and data. Telecom providers continue to work to restore their permanent transmission sites.

- LFD rescued a dog this AM off of the shores of Lake Erie behind the 17800 block of Lake Ave. The dog became trapped after the water rose due to the rain this weekend! A resident was able to throw food down to the dog until we could attempt a rescue. Very nice job by all involved!
- Mayor Meghan George: Peaceful protesters are currently demonstrating in Lakewood. We are monitoring the situation closely to ensure everyone remains safe.
- Happy Pool Season, Lakewood! The newly renovated Foster Pool at Lakewood Park opens tomorrow at 12:00 PM! Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to get this project completed on time. We are still completing some finishing touches, so please pardon our dust as we finish up.
- The Pickleball Courts at Lakewood Park are now open! We would like to thank the Public Works and Planning Departments & contractors for their efforts in completing the work on these four courts this summer.
- Did you know? Lakewood will embark on its largest ever fall planting effort, 360 trees, late this month. This will bring the 2019 planting total to 544 trees. This is the most trees ever planted within the City in any given year, exceeding the previous high of 480 trees in 2017.

- Great news for Lakewood's tree canopy! The City of Lakewood was awarded $50,000 in grant funding from the @countyplanning Healthy Urban Tree Canopy Grant Program. This innovative grant will support the planting of 400 trees in Lakewood over the next 18 months.
