I was born and raised in this community—and I’ve seen what happens when working people are left behind. I’m running for Congress to build an economy that starts with us, the people. #IL07

Stop scrolling: My name is Kina Collins. When I was a child I witnessed gun violence. I became the Executive Director of the largest gun violence prevention organization in Illinois. I fought to tackle gun violence, but we need federal action. Now I'm running for Congress.

This is gutting. This isn’t a legal opinion – it’s a declaration of war. A violent, coordinated right-wing assault on our abortion rights. If the Senate cares about our reproductive freedom, abolish the filibuster & pass the Women's Health Protection Act. Step up or step aside.
The Supreme Court has voted to strike down Roe v. Wade, according to an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito and obtained by POLITICO. “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” Alito writes. politico.com/news/2022/05/0…

We ran against two elected officials, and y'all are taking credit 😂 What we did was brave. We knew it would be hard. We organized and fought back anyway. When history reflects on the war crimes committed in Gaza, my campaign will be on the right side of history. You won't be.
The AIPAC-backed super PAC United Democracy Project helped defeat anti-Israel candidate Kina Collins. Collins has called the war in Gaza a “genocide” and applauded @CoriBush's "Ceasefire Now” resolution. She has previously been endorsed by @AOC's @justicedems and @sunrisemvmt.

Girl, shut up. Where were you when the THUG you endorsed for President called on the Proud Boys to "stand back and stand by," and then they stormed the Capitol? Do us all a favor. Sit this one out.
In 2021, I called for BLM and Antifa to be declared domestic terrorist organizations. Tonight, with the violence and rioting in Atlanta, I’m renewing that call. We must treat these thugs just like we treat any other group using political violence to intimidate their enemies.

Mayors that cover up police murders should not get to become ambassadors for our country. Send it back.
    Officially sent to the senate.

Every story, every thinkpiece, every conversation about the violence in Chicago must also address the decades we’ve spent defunding education and shuttering schools, the lack of access to healthcare, especially mental health specialists, and failed status quo leadership.
In the deadliest and most violent weekend this year in Chicago, over 100 people have been shot over the long Fourth of July weekend, 19 of them killed. bit.ly/2V4hm57

We don't just need more Democrats in Congress, we need better Democrats in Congress.
Democrats in the U.S. Senate have failed to advance a bill that would guarantee access to abortion across the country. West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin joined all Senate Republicans in opposing the legislation. n.pr/3M5qkVl

Thank you to the people of #IL07. This race was a testament to the power of the people. We showed them that a young Black woman from the West Side can take on the Chicago machine & stay sucker free. I love my city. Our fight has just begun & they can never ignore us again.
Yesterday, we showed them that a young Black woman from the West Side can take on the Chicago machine without a dime of corporate PAC dollars. They had to call in every political favor from the President to the Speaker of the House to beat our movement. This election was about giving our city a better vision for our future - one free of gun violence, that takes on the corporate class with Green New Deal union jobs, universal healthcare, and fully-funded public education, strengthens our labor movement, and protects our reproductive rights. This isn't the end, it's just the beginning. They can never ignore us again. We'll be back.

This is beyond distasteful to the survivors whose voices were finally heard and have just started going through the healing process right now. Where's the list of resources for survivors—the Black girls who have been irreversibly harmed? Where's even the mention of survivors?
Rep. Danny Davis says R. Kelly should get a shot at redemption once he serves his time. tmz.com/2021/09/28/r-k…

From Chicago to Highland Park, IL dozens of people have been shot and murdered in less than a 48 hour period. Gun violence is and will always be the greatest public health crisis in our country that continues to go unaddressed. Our elected officials should feel ashamed.
Now: Shooter at large. 6 dead, 24 seriously wounded in shooting at Highland Park July 4th parade. Watch — cbsnews.com/chicago/live
