- Just found this on my phone from Gary & Paul's homecoming in August 2016. Look who's on the left, Fintan McCarthy, then 19 years old, watching it all unfold in Skibbereen. Five years later he's in the boat and has an Olympic gold medal. Just shows what is possible.
- Love this photo! Current Irish women's hammer champion Nicola Tuthill, then just 15 years old, watches on as her dad Norman builds his daughter a throwing circle (and then cage) in a field at home in Kilbrittain. On Sunday, Nicola will make her Olympic debut. Remarkable story.
- Arise Paul O'Donovan, the Rowing King of Skibbereen. Ireland's greatest-ever rower. Just look at his medal haul. He's still 28. Olympics ๐ฅ๐ฅ World Championships ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ European Championships ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ World Cups ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ Last six international regattas ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
- Soak it in, as Amhran na bhFiann plays out to salute Paul O'Donovan's latest World Rowing Championship success. What an incredible ambassador for Lisheen, Skibbereen, West Cork and Ireland!
00:00 - ๐ฅ Gold for the Ireland mixed 4x400m relay team at the European Championships! Wow!
00:00 - Took this photo back in 2016 at the homecoming of Gary & Paul O'Donovan (in their Ireland gear) after winning Olympic silver. On the left is fresh-faced Fintan McCarthy, mouth open, watching on, dreaming. Look at Fintan now: back-to-back Olympic gold medallist! Living the dream.
- This is the Paul O'Donovan appreciation tweet. He's only 26 years old but Paul is, easily, one of the greatest sportspeople we've ever had. He's a four-time world senior champion, a two-time European champ, Ireland's best-ever rower, and he's not finished yet. A beast of a rower
- WORLD CHAMPIONS, AGAIN! Simply supreme from Paul O'Donovan and Fintan McCarthy as they win gold in the men's lightweight double at the World Rowing Championships. Devastatingly dominant, again. Made in Skibb to take over the world. ๐ฅ
00:00 - 12 years ago, Peter O'Mahony presented a medal to 12-year-old Jack Crowley at @bandonrfc end of season awards, and now they start together for Ireland in the Six Nations opener against France, O'Mahony as captain & Crowley as No. 10.
- A magical moment as the Irish women's four, including @skibbrowing's Emily Hegarty, get their hands on the bronze medals at the Olympics in Tokyo. Huge result for Irish rowing and Irish women's rowing ๐ช @RowingIreland
00:00 - So, Cork football fans from West Cork travelling home from Dublin after the All-Ireland SFC quarter-final (6pm throw-in in Croke Park) will leave Dublin some time after 8pm, if they're lucky, and they'll be home by Monday after spending a week's wage on petrol.
- Watch a living legend at work, as Paul OโDonovan wins his SEVENTH world title with a dominant performance in the lightweight men's single sculls final at the World Rowing Championships! He's a winning machine.
00:00 - Phil Healy is a West Cork treasure. To produce that performance in an Olympic final considering where she was 12 months ago is phenomenal. She dug deep to run that 50.90 split. Phil is easily one of the greatest sportspeople West Cork has ever produced. What a legend.
