- I am truly honoured to be proposed as the new Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime. London has been my home all my life and keeping all Londoners safe is incredibly important to me. I’m excited to work with Sadiq to build trust and confidence in the Met at this important timeNothing is more important to me than keeping Londoners safe. - I have just handed in my resignation as the Leader of Islington Council and as a Councillor for Junction. I will miss everyone in Islington Council terribly, but I am excited to deliver for London in my new role. Full text below ⬇️

- Sorry to be a 🤓 but this is so exciting. My ward has one of the biggest bus depots in Europe in it. The depot is surrounded by residential streets and a primary school. - A brilliant day in the Islington sunshine talking to local people in Laycock and Tufnell Park about the London elections on Thursday. We can’t let a racist, climate change-denying Tory to be Mayor of London. Only @SadiqKhan will deliver the fairer London we all want to see
- I've hit the ground running as Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime in my home city. Last week, attending meetings with the Home Secretary and the Attorney General alongside the @MayorofLondon. Enjoying meeting the team & police to really get under the skin of the task ahead.
- With infection rates continuing to rise in Islington & hospitals in North Central London under considerable strain @RichardWatts01 & I have written to the Secretary of State to ask for the rationale behind not allowing Islington primary schools to stay closed.
- Melanin in the England team = Melanin in the England support. 🤎 Gutted that we lost tonight but so proud of the boys once again. We’ll be there again in the US in two years time!
- Whilst this decision should have been taken sooner, a London wide approach is right. The safety of our community must always come first. We will continue to work with Islington Schools to do all we can to support our families.I very much welcome this change of heart from the Government that all London primary schools will move to online learning on Monday. The rationale for splitting London up was never clear and this move is belated but welcome. theguardian.com/education/2021…
