What happened to Sarah Everard has hit home hard for so many women because we make the calculations she did every day too. We take the longer, better-lit route, push the fear aside for the voice that says ‘don't be daft, you've every right to walk home alone at night and be safe’

You see all those female MPs and journalists tweeting their rage at this story? It’s because nearly every single one of us has experienced something like this in the course of doing our jobs - often repeatedly - and we are utterly, utterly sick of it.

Well that wasn't how last night was supposed to end! Thanks everyone for the lovely messages❤️- I'm fine now - and apologies to @trussliz and @RishiSunak for cutting the debate short. Tonight I'll be unpicking the debate with some new polling from 7pm ( ...yes, sat down!)

Michael Gove told @KayBurley just now that when Dominic Cummings drove to Barnard Castle on the 14th April the rules allowed people to drive for exercise but that’s not the case. The rules were relaxed in mid-May.

NEW: CWU union reveals Post Office staff have voted in support of plans to become an additional emergency service during the coronavirus crisis. Staff could deliver food parcels and medicine, check on vulnerable people and monitor isolation. Letter to PM to offer services

Liz Truss has tested positive for covid. She attended the packed meeting of Tory MPs and ministers in Portcullis House this evening, leaving before it finished. She was not wearing a mask.

If you were a fan of “You must wait for the Sue Gray report” you’ll be delighted to hear there is now a sequel … “You must wait for the Police investigation to conclude”.

To those saying 'I don't care about who suggested PM meet Gray', that's fine - you don't have to. But it is literally my job to care and to let you know. I assume you're following a political reporter's account on Twitter for exactly that kind of thing.

Over 600 people died yesterday w Covid-19 yet on my cycle to work I passed an ice cream van (& queue) at Brockwell Park, Brixton skatepark open & busy, big groups drinking on the street in Stockwell and loads of cars on the roads. Genuinely, are people becoming numb to the risk?

It really has come something when the person running the Yorkshire Tea twitter account has to appeal for people to be kind because of the abuse they had to deal with after the Chancellor tweeted a picture of himself making a brew.
So it's been a rough weekend. On Friday, the Chancellor shared a photo of our tea. Politicians do that sometimes (Jeremy Corbyn did it in 2017). We weren't asked or involved - and we said so the same day. Lots of people got angry with us all the same.

As the PM finishes her exchange with Keir Starmer, telling MPs she’s a “fighter not a quitter”, one Tory backbencher turns to their neighbour and says simply “useless”. Colleague nods.

Can’t quite believe what I just heard on @BBCWorldatOne. Former Met chief super Parm Sandhu saying female officers don’t always report suspicious behaviour of male colleagues because they “close ranks” & you risk being left to get your head kicked in on duty if you call for help

    Replying to @KateEMcCann
You’re a grown woman and in no other area of your life do you feel so vulnerable. You resent it even though you understand there is a risk - however small. It is frustrating and tiring and constant. And yet sometimes, despite all those calculations, it still isn’t enough.

Rishi Sunak manages a small smile and a nod followed by what looked suspiciously like a gulp as Sir Keir Starmer says his career is up in smoke because of the PM’s behaviour.
