That’s because Julius Rosenwald who was President and owner of Sears, started over 5000 schools for blacks in the south during segregation, pre 1954. It was not just the Sears merchandise, it was the Sears mission. Blacks were friends to Sears because Sears was a friend to us!

HBCUs are just 3% of the four year institutions, yet they educate 80% of all black judges, 50% of all black lawyers and doctors, and 25% of black science, technology, math and engineer graduates.

Frederick Douglass never called the civil war, by that name. He felt it gave the confederates equal status and credibility with the United States Government. Douglass called it, “The Slave holder rebellion against the United States Government.” They were all traitors!

Between 2015 and 2019, over 1500 blacks were shot by the police. 96 % were black males. In 2020 when George Floyd was killed, 205 blacks were shot by the police, 203 of them were black men. How did the revolt of 2020 become a protest about everyone else’s issues except black men?

I take Deon’s departure personally. As an HBCU President, whenever I land talent either in sports or academia, PWIs who have more money attempt to lure them away. HBCUS don’t have the money. They reflect black wealth deprivation in general.

Black Americans (ADOS) have been in the US for a little over 20 generations, 1619-2019 (400 years). Of those 20 generations, in 18 of those generations blacks were enslaved and legally segregated.

My daughter Christine is making progress. She just passed the swallow test and uttered her first word, MAMA. She should have said Dad first but I’ll take it. Thanks for all your prayers. She is on the journey back to wholeness. Please keep praying. Prayer and effort works!

I am so proud of my daughter Christine! With tears n her eyes she is fighting her stroke in an effort to talk. She is working hard to make a comeback. One week from a devastating stroke she is making amazing progress. The neurologists r amazed! Prayer plus efforts works!
