    Born in Bastrop County, Texas in 1906, Overton lived in the same East Austin home he built after returning from the war. The secret to his longevity may have been his daily cigars and whiskey, but he told KUT's @AKMcGlinchy in 2015 his long life was simply “God’s work.”
