- No. We are absolutely, unequivocally, undoubtedly NOT going to get 30 inches of snow on Tuesday. The places that post that garbage have no interest in anything other than clicks, shares, and likes. They are not interested in helping anyone. It is 100% idiotic nonsense.Replying to @KCRG_FirstAlertHow much snow are we supposed to get on Sunday? And are we really going to get 30 inches on Tuesday?????!!!!!!!!!
- Tropical Storm Barry continues to move toward the Gulf Coast, where it will bring bigtime rain & flooding. Some places will get over a foot of rain. It's forecast to briefly become a hurricane before making landfall (between the two forecast times of 1 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday).
- With the Cedar Rapids CityCam back in business on the Mount Mercy University campus, I was eager to do a before-and-after look at the derecho's impact on the landscape. It was even more shocking to me than I expected. There are so many empty spots where foliage used to be. -Corey

- It's too hot...too humid...and this line of storms is vicious. A derecho is possible as it moves ESE...northern Iowa, please pay attention later this afternoon into this evening! Farther south, it's questionable how strong it may be...pay attention anyways...it's very volatile.
- Remember that risk to life and property is of utmost importance. We will not skip passing along this information in favor of Bieber.
- Everyone in the Cedar Rapids and Davenport areas should remain indoors based on the latest data. -Jan
- Parts of north Texas and western Oklahoma are in a high risk of severe weather today. Strong tornadoes look likely there. This is the anniversary of a tornado outbreak in Oklahoma that killed 24 people in 2013, so this is affecting people that way, too.
- JUST IN: Cedar Rapids fell to -30, breaking its all-time record low.
- As if the storms and strong winds weren't enough, wildfire smoke from brush fires in Kansas is now creating unhealthy air quality at times over the next several hours into early Thursday morning. It's also causing a distinct smoky smell. Conditions improve later Thursday. -Corey
- As of this morning, 73% of the country is covered with snow. It was 35% covered last year on this date. Measurable snow fell all the way down into northern Mexico! Jamaica Beach, TX (By Galveston) picked up a half inch! San Antonio, TX had 4-6" reported.
