I recently got to do my thing for the wildly talented @nerissa_en and her debut at Hololive. Thanks for the chance to help out! I thoroughly enjoyed getting to work with such a talented group of creative minds! Have fun, all you Jailbirds 💙

Happy Monday, VAs! I made these for easy reference 👁️

“Plus it’s harder for the engineers!” I do not consent to be an excuse. Try again.

VAs, make sure you charge extra for having to separate/export individual files yourself. I get paid for it, so should you.

Please put yourself on my radar right now if you’re a VO who sings. Do you know your note range/register?

Oh, you like voice acting? Read every line

Normalize not normalizing your auditions to -3dB. Please. Normalization works on averaging an overall “loudness” structure. If your averages are that close to 0 that is a bad look. Ideally, your peak should land near -3dB. Even that’s well into the mastering practice.

a compressor is like your mom (my fav. analogy): Threshold: the level she asks you to turn the music down to. Ratio: how much you turn down the volume after she shouts at you. Attack: how fast you react. Release: how fast you turn the volume back up after she closes the door.

Please remember a creative career is not a level field. Opportunity is governed by several discreet factors. You don’t control the nepotism, tribalism or ego of others. Excellence should matter more but remember it doesn’t. It’s not always you. Quit second guessing yourself 🩵

If I ever need VAs for my game, a demo will not be *required for consideration. It’d just be an outright audition or me reaching out directly I feel like that would avoid a conflict of interest as someone with an LLC that… makes demos

If you’re new to VO, I’ll say it for you. Some pockets of the industry are strangely gatekeepy. Don’t let that bait your intrigue or canvas your perspective. Most members of the community are here to help others forward, even in competitive settings.

There are some who’ll never invite you, and ignore you when you reach out, they may even gate-keep you. And once you have your own success, or they’ve exhausted their supply, they wanna respect you, charm your pants off. It‘ll feel good. It’s not real. Don’t slow down
