Genuinely think a big problem in modern discourse around film is how many people forget this

The funniest thing about the “Avatar isn’t popular because it’s not memed” argument is that less than a year ago a studio convinced itself that memes = interest, re-released their movie based only on that and that’s how Morbius flopped twice
‘AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER’ earns $63.4M in the film’s third weekend domestically, a 0% drop from its second weekend. Read our review: bit.ly/DFAvatar

“My planet needs me” becoming shorthand for any contrived/hasty exit of a character from any medium might be my favourite, especially when the original joke is a work of art
Been thinking about Simpsons phrases that have entered the popular lexicon. Things like "land of contrasts" and "saying the quiet part loud," what else is there (not thinking of neologisms/solecisms like "cromulent" or "embiggen")

If you’re gonna get mad when Scorsese calls these things “amusement park movies” then you’ve gotta stop treating them like you’re on a ride at Disneyland

2023's March Madness has come down to this. This year, Blank Check will cover a Korean filmmaker - but who? Are you thirsty for THIRST? Or are you hungry for OKJA? Jk, please don't eat Okja. It's PARK CHAN-WOOK (4) vs. BONG JOON HO (1). Vote: blankcheckpod.com/march-madness

People mock Sony for that error but then show with their whole chest that they would’ve made exactly the same mistake because “if Avatar makes money where are all the memes about it”

Correction: "All these women, are women." Oh wait no now I get it, it's funny because it's transphobic. Wow, what comedic wit. So funny. You see it's funny because it's misinformed and wrong about gender dysphoria and sexuality. So funny...... Most replies here make me sad

My favourite part is after Neil says he didn't know who Shapiro was prior to the interview and Benny, outraged says "Then why are YOU interviewing me?" He's aware that anchors don't have free reign over who they interview right? Does he know how broadcasters work?

If you're in any doubt over Robert Pattinson being cast as Batman because you only know him from Twilight, then please watch these three movies. Then try to tell me he isn't an amazing choice. (by all accounts High Life is also great, but I've yet to see it)
