Manchester gets a 'highline' as Castlefield viaduct set to become a National Trust garden in the sky. @mcrconfidential suggested this first in 2007, now @nationaltrust will deliver with @OurCastlefield Great news. @visit_mcr confidentials.com/manchester/cas…

So left the phone on the tram that's receding here and as I was getting off this sixteen year old came running up and said 'Your phone mate.' Faith restored.

The towers and the pub. A two hundred year scale difference in Mcr buildings. This was taken last week at twilight.

Let’s keep an eye on this one. It’s one of those handsome older not listed buildings that adds greatly to the street scene. It’s the Deansgate pub, formerly called the Crown. It’s in a prime development spot but that’s no excuse to lose it. @OurCastlefield @mcrconfidential

Spot of filming & chat about Engels & Marx @chethamslibrary with @theAliceRoberts. As usual the sun beats down on the beautiful old stones of Chetham’s. Great to have a presenter who knows their stuff. @Channel4 #britainsmosthistorictowns

A real hardware shop in Mcr city centre would kill it. Lots of flats nowhere to buy a screwdriver. We have shocking retail gaps & so many shops closed. No toy shop, no 2nd hand/antiquarian bookshop, no antique shop, no deli at scale. Other gaps anyone? @mcrconfidential @CityCo

St Ann's Square is full of empty units. Why? It should be full of food and drink, tables and chairs and joie de vivre. Why it's not is pure gold...and diamonds and rubies...

Public culture has returned. Here’s the queue to get back into Central Library in the city centre. Heart-warming. So how come other cultural institutions, art galleries and museums, which could far more easily maintain social distance than a shop or a pub, are still closed?

Cheadle Hulme house invaded from space probably sometime in the ‘80s.
