As the Republican leader in the State Assembly I am deeply concerned about the President Trump’s allegation that the election is being “stolen”without evidence of fraud or illegality. This attack directly from the White House is dangerous to our democracy

- I respect the decision of the jury in New York. We are the party of law and order. My experience as a trial lawyer is that jurors take their responsibilities seriously. No person is above the law.
- I am calling for an immediate special session of the legislature to discuss the reopening of New Jersey. Let the public and experts speak.
- The New Jersey media has a responsibility to ask Governor Murphy why hundreds can stand in line at Motor Vehicles and hundreds can gather to protest but no one can vote in person. This was a political decision that is a threat to democracy not a decision based on safety
- Governor Murphy permits long lines at Motor Vehicles but not for voting? Try to explain that one
- Restaurant owners cannot even get a meeting with the Governor. Very sad. No hearing. They worked years to build their businesses and now totally ignored. This should never ever happen in an open society
- One party rule in Trenton has decided to reject “in person voting” in New Jersey. We need a constitutional amendment that would only deny in person voting if 75 percent of the legislature agreed. I will draft the amendment. Politics should never influence our right to vote
- Despite my efforts Governor Murphy will not allow anyone to vote in a private voting booth. The legislature will not give residents THE OPTION to vote in a booth. During this very polarized moment in history, completely changing the rules of how we vote is NOT A GOOD IDEA
- Calling the President of the United States “a liar” by Marjorie Taylor Greene during the State of the Union damages our party. We, as Republicans, must condemn this behavior. Our party cannot ignore this conduct or we will be defined by a few hateful extremists.
- I am very disappointed that the Governor without any consultation of the elected legislature stopped reopening of indoor dining scheduled for this Thursday. This should not be decided by one person. No transparency, no discussion and no debate.
- I am drafting legislation to reimburse restaurant owners who spent money and relied on Governor Murphy’s word that they could reopen tomorrow. They deserve to be reimbursed by the government.
- The legislature must act to end the State of Emergency that gives 100 percent of government control to one man. We need the legislature to take back their right to make the laws. Laws are made now without any hearing or public input.
- I am drafting legislation that if a State of Emergency lasts more than 14 days, the Governor must convene a joint session of the legislature and answer questions by the members.
- The New Jersey State policy of teaching gender identity to children in the first and second grade would create confusion at that age. The subject is complicated and would only make sense for age appropriate students.
