So tonight is my 40th anniversary of covering #gtfc. And it’s also a chance to say that I’ll be stepping down from commentating onThe Mariners at the end of the season. I’m certainly going to miss it but I feel the time is right to call it a day.

For those asking these are my words at the final whistle when #gtfc were relegated

This wasn’t failure. It was the end of a brilliant success. #gtfc

It’s a sign I tell you! Let’s hope this is going viral tomorrow!! #gtfc #manutd

Tomorrow sees me starting my 40th season covering #gtfc. I’m always aware of what an honour and privilege it is to be able to share my view of the game with fans who are unable to be at the match. UTM!
✍🏻📻We're thrilled to let you know we've secured a new three-year commentary deal with Grimsby Town to bring you every kick from this season ❤️⚽️ @officialgtfc #GTFC #Grimsby More here 👉🏼bbc.in/3cPoTNR

Seriously thanks to everyone on and off the pitch who has made covering #gtfc a real pleasure again. And a massive well done to this brilliant group of players.

Tonight has been difficult for me both personal and professionally. Commentating in front of a tv with no sound is a joke and should only be done in an emergency. Thanks for all those who sent support or good wishes. I should have been there. Up The Mariners. #gtfc

Can confirm that barring any last minute hitches, Shaun Pearson is to return to #gtfc.

Before the game today @btsportfootball put up a caption on the screen in the press room obviously testing the graphics or something. I took a photo just in case. It was the exact minute @jmaguiredrew scored the winner for #gtfc

Well we celebrate #gtfc staying up and that’s right but let’s remember we’re not celebrating success. We’re celebrating avoiding failure. We need to be better.

⁦This is @bbcburnsy⁩ final moments on his show. So much love from listeners and colleagues

Too often I’ve seen England go out of major tournaments with a whimper but this team went out fighting and can hold their head high. Feel so sorry for Kane who’s been outstanding. Referee very poor.

A lovely surprise from Robbie Stockdale on my arrival to @TheGillsFC #gtfc

Sadly Sir Alan Buckley has decided to step away from #gtfc commentary duties this season. It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with him over the years. His reading of a game is always spot on and we’ve had some great times. Thanks a lot Alan. You’ll be a hard act to follow!
