The Jo Cox Foundation is horrified to hear the news of the attack on Sir David Amess MP. We are thinking of him, his family and loved ones at this distressing time.

Nigel Farage's speech today directly incited violence and abuse towards MPs. This language was deeply irresponsible, hateful and designed to divide. There is no 'us' and 'them'. When we seek to disunite, we damage only ourselves. #moreincommon #LoveLikeJo

The vitriolic abuse directed at @jessphillips over the past few days is unwarranted and unacceptable. It is an example of the culture of abuse and intimidation that has become commonplace in our political discourse, disproportionately impacting women and people of colour. 🧵1/4

Regarding the remarks on GMB yesterday, we want to make clear that not only are death threats towards elected representatives never acceptable, but that this increase in abuse and intimidation towards politicians has real and dangerous consequences...(1/2)
