    Today is Halloween. I've heard people grousing about older kids trick-or-treating. Why? There are so many worse things they could be doing. They grow up too fast. Let them have another night of being a kid. Greet them with a smile, a joke and let them be young for one more night.

    Anoka-Hennepin school board tonight voted 5-1 to let high school and middle school athletic teams continue to play after the district goes to distance learning as they await direction from the state. @StribSports

    Sitting here at the X, covering the state volleyball tournament, marveling at what I'm seeing. There is no better girls' sport at the high school level. The grit, teamwork, athleticism, emotion. If you can't appreciate this, you're not a sports fan.

    With winter prep sports over, I want to say thanks to the athletes, coaches, parents, ADs, administrators and readers for allowing me to do what I do. The best high school sports scene in the country is in Minnesota and I’m lucky to be a part of it. THANK YOU!

    If the lights of your local HS stadium are shining tonight, it's part of the #BeTheLightMN, in which schools are turning on their stadium lights for 20 minutes, 20 seconds (Class of 2020) to show support for students, athletes and communities. Pretty cool. @stribsports @MSHSLjohn
