One of my biggest pet peeves about education is fellow educators that smirk when you tell them you're a football coach. I teach my subject well AND teach boys how to be good men. I spend 14-16 hours a day making sure ALL facets of my job are done right in class and on the field.

- Who is the most famous alum of your high school?
- HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS:Your four years of high school will fly by. Play that sport, join that club, take that class, go on that mission trip, go to that dance. When it's over, it's over. You'll have the rest of your life for work and bills.
- FOOTBALL PLAYERS: If you're not putting in work in June and July, don't expect things to go your way in August! Yeah, summer break is cool and all, but you'll have the rest of your life to not play football.
- A football dad invited me out for coffee this afternoon. I was on the coaching staff of both his boys teams. He said, "I just wanted to express our gratitude for your help in helping our boys become men and thank you for your sacrifices." Those words will be forever treasured!!!
- I'll never understand why kids forego high school athletics and activities to work. I'm not talking kids that HAVE TO work to keep the bills paid, rather kids who choose to work. High school goes by quickly. You'll have the next 50 years to work. Enjoy it!!!
- Dear AAU, You've totally messed up youth, high sçhool, and college basketball, so kindly stay away from football. Thanks! Americans
- I'll preface this by saying I'm old. But we football coaches need to steal our culture back from the 7v7 crowd. You want to sing, dance, scream, chant, cheer, etc? Take it to the locker room, not the fifty yard line. Bring back respect and decency to our great game.
- I'd be willing to live in my bathroom until August if it meant we'd be guaranteed a football season. Meanwhile, in Florida:
- TEACHERS AND COACHES: If you have a principal, AD, vice principal, etc that returns your calls, texts, emails on the weekend, never leave them! They are more rare than photo footage of Sasquatch riding a unicorn!
- Coaches that started coaching in the Hudl Age missed out on bye week scouting trips. It always felt like espionage, especially in a small town. Don't wear school related gear. Maybe wear a college polo to justify your furious note-taking. Make small talk with the locals, etc.
- HC's: find assistants that put championship game effort into equipment check in. It's easy to find guys that want to be on the sidelines during games.
- I'm a pretty conservative fella, but explain to me why EVERY child in America doesn't eat school lunch for free years round? Even summers. It's never a kids fault that their parents aren't providing at least two meals a day at home. Rich kids, poor kids. Doesn't matter. Feed em!
