BIG NEWS: I’m running for Congress in Michigan’s 11th District! Oakland County raised me and I’ve spent the last decade fighting for you in the Michigan Legislature. Now I’m ready to stand up for our communities — with a little bit of chutzpah — in Washington.

I literally never want to hear again that LGBT people in the bathroom are a threat to public safety.

This is not how Jews view the phrase “from the river to the sea.” This is not how Hamas views the phrase “from the river to the sea.” Hamas uses it as a rallying cry. And they don’t simply want to displace Jews in Israel. They want Jews dead.

From the river to the sea is an aspirational call for freedom, human rights, and peaceful coexistence, not death, destruction, or hate. My work and advocacy is always centered in justice and dignity for all people no matter faith or ethnicity.

I’m the lone gay member of the Michigan Senate, where our #LGBTQ community has been under attack. Now our staunch allies are experiencing the collateral damage. @MalloryMcMorrow faced some disgusting hits yesterday — and still came out roaring today in our defense. Thank you.
"I know that hate will only win if people like me stand by and let it happen." Please watch this incredible speech from Michigan State Senator @MalloryMcMorrow, who is not standing by.

I attended Rep. Schriver’s “press conference” today on his Michigan House resolution that urges the US Supreme Court to overturn its landmark 2015 marriage equality ruling. He wouldn’t take questions from the media. So I did.

Michigan had a larger proportion of Union troops in cavalry than any other state. A quarter of the state’s male population were Union soldiers. Michigan beat the Confederacy. Abraham Lincoln said “Thank God for Michigan!” A Michigander flying a Confederate flag defies history.

Ah yes, the ol’ “switch to being gay to run for President at some point in the future” trick. Great sleuthing, Michael53067924.

Celebrating #equality as the Michigan House passes my bill to include #LGBTQ protections in the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act and sends it to @GovWhitmer to be signed into law! What a moment.

Hamas killed 1400 Jews in just a few hours. They are holding 200+ more in unknown conditions. They would kill all 7 million Jews in Israel if they could. And if you can’t imagine that happening, read a history book.

No one gets to dictate the terms & conditions of coming out. Certainly not MI Senate Republicans. It’s a journey only the individual can begin. I know. I lived it. To #LGBTQ youth — despite the haters seeking attention, many of us are protecting your right to #LiveAsYouAre.

This phrase preys upon the psyche of Jews. There are less than 16 million of us living in the world. Fewer Jews are alive today than the eve of the Holocaust. Just about every Jewish person you know lives where they live because their family escaped certain death to get there.

Who woulda thought the gayest party I’ve ever been to was at the White House? Thank you @POTUS for signing the Respect for Marriage Act! #LoveIsLove 🏳️‍🌈

This victory in the Michigan Supreme Court affirms what #LGBTQ Michiganders knew all along: Our lives have worth and our work provides value. And now today, when faced with discrimination, we can seek justice. #EqualityForAll 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
Michigan Supreme Court rules 5-2 that sexual orientation is protected under Michigan's anti-discrimination law, the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act. Justice Elizabeth Clement, a Republican-nominated justice, wrote the majority opinion.
