    Tears of gratitude are flowing down my face as I type this. My husband got up from his wheelchair this morning and WALKED INTO THE KITCHEN! Yes, he had to use crutches, but he walked for the first time in years! God’s mercies are new every morning. I’m literally shaking with joy.

    It was on JetBlue. After three polite requests for her to keep her hair on her side of the seat, I tied her hair to the hinges of the tray table, then locked it closed. I used surgeon’s knots to ensure what I tied stayed tied. She was still there when the rest of us departed.

    The light has gone from my life. My best friend, my boyfriend, my husband, my beloved is gone. Just like that, the world flips from technicolor to gray. Music becomes noise. I don’t even know what life looks like, disconnected from my heart. How do I breathe without him? Oh, God!
