    Just found out that Shea Moisture—the product given to us by “Black-owned” company Sundial Brands—is actually owned by Unilever. Yeah, that Unilever. The one Walter Rodney exposes in “How Europe Underdeveloped Africa” as an instrument of British imperialism. Smh

    Remmick’s goal was revealing. He explicitly coveted Sam’s mastery of the Blues to commune w ancestors. He was presumably being chased down by the Choctaw for targeting them for the same reason. Why couldn’t he use his own folk music for that goal? The limitations of white culture

    I am fully convinced that had emancipated Black people been left alone they would have developed and sustained numerous fully autonomous communities with a strong “socialist” orientation throughout the American South. This is precisely why they were not left alone…

    The U.S. government can’t handle anything. Not epidemics. Not gun violence. Not economic crashes. Not poverty reduction. Not inequality. Not climate catastrophes. Only thing it’s good for is paving a way for capital.

    What’s the difference b/t the “Black on Black crime” narrative and the “Africans sold each other into slavery” narrative? Both ignore the context and underlying conditions that severely limit/limited Black folks’ options. Both ultimately shift the blame away from white supremacy.

    The overwhelming majority of Black people do value Black life and I wish y’all would stop declaring otherwise every time somebody dies.
