Hello!
My name is Chyenne Smith and I’m a rancher in Idaho.
Our ranch is the J Lazy S Angus Ranch.
I started this account (as well as a FB, Insta & TicToc) to share what we do and answer questions with anyone who is interested.

Tiniest kindergartner on my bus in whispered conspiracy:
“I know you’re not REALLY a bus driver!”
Oh! What am I really?
“I saw you on your horse chasing cows. I know you’re REALLY a cowgirl.”
Hi! I’m Chyenne & this is our ranch in Idaho.
I’ve been off for a while, I apologize.
We just started spring calving & are having some unusual snow loads for mid-February.
We normally start calving early January thought so this isn’t something we’re not prepared for.

I’m getting a new house!
When we bought this ranch, the only livable house was sitting on the dirt… I’m 20 years tired of sharing my house with the mice and voles lol
Cows can and will try to kill you, especially over a calf.
It’s not that our cattle like people in general it’s that they know us and we know them.
This particular cow is a 2011 model making her 14 years old and I was there just like this when she was born too.

Very irritated daughter stomping all over the porch...
Me: What’s the problem?
Her: Dad asked me to bring him a Phillips screwdriver AND ALL WE HAVE ARE STANLEYS!!!!
Ranchers have kept as much of the west as they can safe from being turned into urban sprawled wastelands & now fancy coalitions want to remove cattle from the west to “rewild it”.
Does this look like it needs rewilding?
There’s all types of different attitudes…
…but best spot on the hay in the sunshine on a gorgeously perfect day in Idaho of the United States of America attitude hits hard in the cute department.
