From what I see, this banknote was created a year ago as more of a symbolic gesture than a real currency. There’s speculation that the current summit has had discussions surrounding a common currency but nothing concrete yet.
This was laid out in the Kazan declaration posted earlier today.
The likely hope is that this is the first step for more agricultural products to be aided by BRICS. The BRICS countries produce nearly 50% of all global grain, not including the recent partner nations.
