It is with great sadness that we have had to share this news with our Islwyn community today. Mr Hurle was an inspirational teacher, who dedicated the last 13 years to both Oakdale Comprehensive and Islwyn High. He touched the hearts of so many and will be dearly missed by all.😔

We are extremely proud of Rhys Price of Year 9, who "saved the day" for another pupil on the way home on a public bus yesterday. Rhys intervened with some timely first aid. The emergency services who attended congratulated him on his actions. #hero #belongbelieveachieve
A massive well done to this young man today! Rhys Price from year 9 performed the Heimlich Manoeuvre on another pupil who was chocking on a public bus on the way home yesterday. A True inspiration to everyone! 👏🏻 #WellDoneRhys #Proud @IslwynHigh

In memory of Daisy Wyatt, who sadly lost her battle with cancer last year, IHS supported #DaisyDay We raised an amazing £800+ which will go to Dreams and Wishes, the charity which supports seriously ill children. Thank you to parents and carers for their support. @DreamsWishesOrg

2/2 This will lead to an investigation & a possible fine or up to 6 months imprisonment under the Malicious Comms Act. The school has already shared such recent tweets with Gwent Police who are now investigating with a view to tracking individuals through IP addresses.

A book of remembrance is now open at the school for anyone who would like to add their thoughts and recollections of Mr Hurle. The book will be passed to his family as a token of the community’s appreciation of his commitment to our pupils over many years.

This young man, James Cook of Year 7, has set a great example to his peers. Having accumulated 850 reward points in Class Charts, which is a massive achievement in itself, he chose to spend them on a donation to the Dreams and Wishes charity (equivalent to approx £5). #welldone
