Yasushi Yamaguchi (designer of Tails from the Sonic the Hedgehog series) explains how he modeled Sonic and Tails’ relationship after Piccolo and Gohan: “If it wasn’t for Dragon Ball, their relationship would’ve never existed. Thank you, Toriyama-sensei”

Toriyama recounts his origin story: “When I quit my office job, I wasn’t planning to become a manga artist. I drifted aimlessly, until my parents asked how long I was going to goof off. Then at the coffee shop I read about a manga contest with a top prize of a million yen.”

May 9th is a Japanese number pun on "Goku" (May=5=Go, 9=ku). And so that's why Goku Day and Piccolo Day are the same day. This is also why Goku goes around in a jacket with 59 on it prior to the Cell Games.

Dragon Ball Daima, ep.10: the genesis of the DB multiverse! It’s a lot to process all at once, let alone the rest of the episode. The kraken’s a bit boring in comparison, but Kuu’s an amusingly good-natured jobber. Plus we learn some interesting facts about Vegeta... #DAIMA #ep10

Piccolo VA Toshio Furukawa learned of Toriyama’s death from his manager. He was the second to be told, after Nozawa: “My first thought was, how did Mako-san feel? DB is her life’s work, and Goku her other self, even more so than Piccolo is for me, right?!”
