Theresa May represents a monumental failure of British leadership, a betrayal of the majority who voted to leave the EU and Conservative Party membership. I called for her to go last year, incredibly she has descended further still. I cannot countenance her Corbyn/Brexit process.

Today I’ve tabled a Home Office parliamentary question asking, so far in 2020, how many illegal migrants have entered the UK via English Channel crossings and what number have been returned to France. This issue must be addressed and acted upon for the safety and security of all.

I shouldn’t have to, but today with other Conservative MP colleagues, we’ve written again to the Home Secretary regarding unacceptable illegal migrant English Channel crossings. UK authorities must act to prevent and return as well as take a much more robust response with France.

1/ It is crazy for #hkpolice to arrest the 81-yo veteran democrat #MartinLee, the Father of Democracy. He is the one who helped draft #HK’s basic law under #1country2systems. For almost 40 years, he has been promoting democracy and human rights in #HongKong.

To paraphrase the Prime Minister tonight: “People want us to just get on with Brexit...so I’m seeking to delay Brexit by a further three months”. 108 times she said Britain was leaving the EU on 29 March, so how are we rely on 30 June? By law deliver Brexit a week Friday please.

House of Commons: I will vote against the new Covid tiers system tonight because these restriction do far more harm to our economic wellbeing and other health issues. I have no truck with opposition parties who will pathetically abstain to cynically avoid and exploit this issue.

Typical BBC news, reporting Boris Johnson going to Berlin and advocating what is in the British interest during EU exit agreement talks as somehow something to be ashamed of. That’s been the problem all along: Brexit as a problem to be mitigated, not an opportunity to be seized.

The problem with those in Downing Street is that they never fully understood why UK voters chose to leave the EU. Brexit has been seen as a problem to be mitigated not an opportunity to rejuvenate our democracy and global links. There is nothing progressive in limited horizons.
