- Devasted by the deadly #Peshawarblast My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, and prayers for the recovery of the injured. The Netherlands condemns all forms of terrorism. We stand with the people of #Pakistan in these difficult times.
- Beira is recovering but the situation is still palpable. People lack shelter; food prices tripled; a real risk is an outbreak of water borne diseases like cholera and malaria. Many countries provide emergency aid, but much more is needed! #IdaiCyclone @NLinMozambique @DutchMFA
- In Mozambique 9 out of 10 women suffer from psychological or physical violence though being a crime under the constitution. The NL Embassy in Mozambique dresses orange in support of the #orangetheworld campaign to end violence against girls and women @DutchMFA @NLWomensrights
- The Kingdom of the Netherlands will provide emergency aid to the most affected areas by the cyclone #idai . Amongst others 3.5 million euro for the Dutch Relief Alliance and 700,000 euro for the Dutch Red Cross. @NLinMozambique @MinBZ @RodeKruis @DutchRelief
- Our deepest condolances and sympathies to the families of the victims and all those affected by the cyclone in Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi #idai @NLinMozambique
- I visited Sérgio Chusane and team at MidiaLab who created a high quality journalism training program. Press freedom is a core principle for democracy. With NL support MidiaLab educates a young generation of critically and open minded journalists. @DutchMFA @NLinMozambique
- At the Beira Conference post-cyclones #Idai and #Kenneth, donors showed strong commitment to “build Mozambique back better”. $1.2 billion was pledged (NL €16 million) to make Mozambique more climate-resilient; “passo a passo construindo um novo dia”. @NLinMozambique @DutchMFA
- 35 volunteers made 1170 maps in a collaboration between Red Cross and Missing Maps of the affected area #Idai. A splendid result. @RodeKruis @DutchMFA Mapathon voor Mozambique groot succes; 8500 gebouwen ‘gemapped’ bit.ly/2YS8EnN via @wissing_rd
- With the launching of the programs My Choice @UNFPAMocambique and It is My Right @IOM_Mozambique in Cabo Delgado, we planted trees, to underline the importance to stop deforestation + hoping that the trees grow and replicate like our programs will. @YAdirectors @NLinMozambique
- In the aftermath of #Idai, the NL organisation @FutureWaterNL supported several rescue missions with drone imagery. The use of drones made it possible to localize stranded communities. By reacting so promptly, FutureWater saved many lives. @DutchMFA @NLinMozambique
- 4 months after #Idai and #Kenneth, many Mozambicans still struggle every day, every hour, every minute to survive. Thousands of Mozambicans are still dependent on food aid, 53,246 were resettled. The cyclones are gone, but the crisis is still there. @NLinMozambique @DutchMFA
- IOM’s offices in Maputo, Tete and Beira help with shelter assistance and ensuring -wherever possible - a safe passage back home. IOM is deploying 30 international technical sector experts, including a Dutch water expert. #IDAI, @IOM_Mozambique @DutchMFA @NLinMozambique
- Meeting a female construction worker at a mobile training center Rapale district was a real highlight. Mother of two sons, she decided to become economically independent by learning a new profession. @DutchMFA @NLinMozambique @UNFPAMocambique @CDinOT
