    7 years ago, I started making my dream game while balancing a AAA dev job. Today, it's finally out on Steam and Switch. Making Europa has changed my life, and I hope you love it as much as I've loved making it. 💖

    This remains one of the best lighting talks, by @vivisky! gdcvault.com/play/1020475/I… A mediocre environment can look great with good lighting, and a detailed environment will look bad with mediocre lighting. Lighting is the biggest "brush" you can use to paint your environment.

    the result can be mindblowing as the geometry is literally just planes, and the materials just diffuse, normal and roughness. only fancy thing here is the fact that these materials are vertex paintable and color changeable! makes even forgotten corners of the game look pretty
