The board gaming world lost a monumental icon today with the passing of Francis Tresham. As the designer of Civilization and the father of the 18xx family, he was a pioneer and one of the all-time greats. Rest In Peace, Francis.

Rest In Peace, Chad Jensen. I didn’t know him personally, but knew many of his games well. A fantastic designer, and from everything I’ve heard, a legitimately good person. Another, taken far too soon because of cancer. A sad day indeed. %#&@ cancer!

I’ve gotten trashed by those that feel I didn’t take a tough enough stance re: @IonGameDesign. I stand by my decision. Then there are those on the other side who feel I’m attacking Phil Eklund. Here is the head of @funagaingames but he’s far from alone: facebook.com/heavycardboard…

Specifically talking about board games...What an amazing time we live in, isn't it? The breadth and scope of themes, levels of complexity & depth, it's just amazing. While we may not always agree on this or that, this is one thing I think we all can agree on. BGs are awesome!🤘🏼

Life goal accomplished: Met & interviewed Francis Tresham, designer of Civilization & 1829 which started the 18XX game genre. Visited his home & took him for pub lunch, as you do. Looking forward to bringing you this interview on our podcast & YouTube channel in several weeks.

It's been a really rough couple of weeks here. Lots of personal upheaval & change as well as dealing w/some mental health demons. Things are settling down now and I'm slowly easing back into everything & getting it all back on-track, professionally & personally. 🐘👍🏼
