- On the underground in London. We’re doing our best to keep a metre apart. Lots of nervous smiling. A lady has just sneezed, but, bless her, she put her entire head into her handbag to do so.
- It seems people are tweeting snaps of their cats … how about this then?
- Cheers, Tim! A marvellous man - a marvellous actor, husband, father, friend. On stage, on screen, on a canal boat, on the end of a pier (he loved a seaside pier!), in the garden with a glass of wine, he was just the best. He has died at 90: what a worthwhile, well-filled life.
- This was Nala in the garden last night. She was very ill, with kidney failure & a tumour. She died today. She was the most beautiful cat & the best of friends. She lived to be almost 20 - a long life for a Maine Coon. You can imagine how sad we are. And how grateful too.
- Janey Godley - @JaneyGodley - an unlikely friend but a real one. A lovely funny daring & delightful person - who rose to life’s challenges in magnificent style. She was very special - she showed us how to live & taught us how to die, with courage & kindness & laughter.
- RIP #BarryCryer. Here we are only a few weeks ago. Baz was just the loveliest guy: funny & generous. He’d worked with everybody & everybody he worked with liked him. I shall miss his happy company so much - & his regular phone calls: he gave you a gem of a joke with each one.
- The saddest news: the death of Dame Maggie Smith marks the end of a golden era & a quite extraordinary life. She was a truly great actress, “one of the greats” & simply the best company: wise, witty, waspish, wonderful. One of a kind in every way & consequently irreplaceable.
- Life is all about prioritiesI have watched this 35 times
- Been out & about signing my book today. And intriguingly I’ve just had a call from my publishers telling me there’s been a sudden uplift in sales which is lovely. It’s a biography of the late Queen: “Elizabeth: an intimate portrait”. I was lucky enough to first meet HM in 1968.
- A happy snap with a very special lady. My friend Dame Sheila Hancock is 90 today & totally amazing. Happy Birthday, Sheila! You’re the best!
