✨ And now, for my next trick… ✨ This is the book I was born to write. Growing up with a rare disability, I often felt all alone in the world—until I found the sideshow and the disabled performers who brought it to life. I can’t wait to share their stories—and mine—with you.
Publishers Marketplace announcement: Labor journalist and author of FIGHT LIKE HELL, Kim Kelly’s EXQUISITE STRANGERS, a hybrid of memoir, original reporting, and archival research on the political and cultural history of disabled sideshow performers, following the stories of women who found both empowerment and exploitation in the American circus, as well as the author’s own account of growing up with ectrodactyly, again to Nicholas Ciani at One Signal, by Chad Luibl at Janklow & Nesbit Associates. The bad takes on “who the Trump rioters are” ignore the fact that most poor and working class people can’t even afford to take off work when their kids are sick, let alone load up on Trump merch and body armor, travel across the country, and spend all day playing fascist putsch

When I worked at Vice, my boss was outed as a sexual predator and was reported to HR and they did nothing :)
That blanket NDA you signed years ago to get severance? It's void now, according to the National Labor Relations Board. trib.al/scWpBsH

imagine being given a secret front row seat to the inner workings of an authoritarian regime led by the worst people alive and then hurriedly removing yourself because it’s not “appropriate”

Obviously representation only goes so far, but when your disability is on the rare side and you’re used to never seeing anyone else who looks like you, stuff like this feels really nice. Thanks for hiring models with limb differences, @rihanna

The Kellogg’s strike is over—and the 1,400 workers who held the line for 10 weeks won! A few new contract highlights: - No concessions (!)
- No permanent two-tier system
- A clear path to regular full-time employment
Strikes work!

imo the left really needs to put a lot more effort into organizing veterans, especially now. they aren’t a political monolith, and a lot of them are getting screwed right now.
"I'm a veteran and you don't give a fuck about me!" Anger at DOGE and the GOP is boiling over. Rep. Chuck Edwards just got scorched at his own town hall over his support for massive cuts.

I should be asleep but can’t stop thinking about a striking sanitation worker I met today. He told me about the time a trash bag full of human shit burst in his face, and he had to spend two days in the hospital to ensure he hadn’t contracted any diseases. He makes $19 an hour.
