As a Canadian, I stand for our freedom of speech, for our right to protest peacefully and respectfully. The only way to eradicate all forms of hate in our society is to not passively stand by when it happens. 🇨🇦

Sometimes unconscious bias is so obvious. Watch this exchange. "Where are you getting this data from?" asks CPC MP Larry Brock. "The Supreme Court of Canada has said it over & over & over again," replies veteran criminal defence lawyer & UWindsor law prof Donardo Jones.

When @CanadianPM joins thousands gathered on Parliament Hill to say that Black lives matter -- that my life matters, my dad's life, my siblings' lives, my kids' lives, 1.2M Black Canadians' lives matter -- that's a welcome balm for my troubled spirit. amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/06/05…

This is unacceptable. No party gets to decide one's Blackness, yet the Conservative Party's by-election candidate seems to think so. Erin O’Toole must fire this candidate. Today. #BlackLivesMatter #cdnpoli

These are disgraceful comments. I didn't expect this.
Why don't we all hold massive protests on our favourite restaurant patios? That way bylaw will leave us all the hell alone.

My Montserrat-born and bred grandfather signed up for the RAF and served as a tailor, for that was as far as they would let that young Black man serve. He did so with pride. Because of that service, he was able to bring his young family to Canada. /2

Today, our government announced the first-ever #BlackEntrepreneurshipProgram. This program will help Black entrepreneurs break through the barriers of systemic racism and contribute to the economic success of all Canadians 🇨🇦 tiny.cc/BlackEntrepren…

I'll repeat myself: @BobRae48 elevates the debate to the heights at which in my mind's eye I expect the world's deliberative body to occupy. We could not have a better representative for Canada in this role.
Rare for a U.N. ambassador to reply off the cuff to other countries without reading from a written text. Yet 🇨🇦 Canada's @BobRae48 did so brilliantly. "Where are the commissions of truth and reconciliation in China? Where are the commissions of truth and reconciliation in Syria?"

Happy New Year! The constituency offices are open. Met with my constituents yesterday, followed by a meeting with this guy with the beard😉 Thanks Prime Minister @JustinTrudeau for a great meeting!

@globeandmail. What a disrespectful headline. The Rt. Hon. John Turner contributed to Canada in countless ways as MP, minister, PM, & Opposition leader. Running down such an accomplished public servant takes nothing away from Turner, but says volumes about your paper. #cdnpoli

For many Canadians, these brutal images were their first real contact with #antiBlackRacism. Racism is more common than you think. Reach out. Take action. #floydgeorge #cdnpoli #BlackLivesMatter

Seven decades later, I am able to take my seat in the House of Commons and serve my country. Mr. Cherry: my grandfather's story is not unique. I trust you are a big enough man to apologize for your comments.

🧵 A dangerous conspiracy theory promoted by Erin O’Toole’s own candidate Cheryl Gallant needed to be denounced without hesitation. O’Toole didn’t do that today, but are we really surprised? #cdnpoli #elxn44
