Anyway the point is we change what is socially good all the time, but what stays static is that women are not socially good. Anyway, buy my book please, because I am tired of these takes. Thank you. uk.bookshop.org/books/the-once…

Did people living through the Dark Ages know those were the Dark Ages? Asking for a friend.

If you are feeling sad and hopeless that is completely understandable, but it's also a luxury we can't afford right now. Here's a list of some great organisations helping on the ground, just as a handy guide:

Fun fact: residents in the "affordable" flats in these blocks are not allowed to use the Sky Pool, even if they pay. They just have to watch the rich people from their windows. Also the "affordable" flats still cost about 750k.
Swimmers enjoy warm weather in London at the Sky Pool which is believed to be the world’s first transparent pool built between two skyscrapers bbc.in/3fUKLp4

I find this stuff enthralling because it's such a great example of how modern people are not, in fact, smarter than medieval people.

A sad fact is that what the neoliberal consensus promised was cheap consumer items. The boomers and Gen X traded job safety, high pay, and affordable housing in return for treats. Now the secure people who benefitted from it tell the young that they can't have the treats either.

Fun fact about what happened pre-modern medicine when women gave birth at home organically in a process 'unmediated by chemical or surgical help' - birth was very much associated with 'dread and pain' because WOMEN AND BABIES JUST DIED CONSTANTLY, JANE.
everything about birthing culture is wrong. babies should be had at home in beds and baths, not fluorescent hospital rooms. the process should be organic, unmediated by chemical or surgical help and unassociated with the dread and pain it often is today.
