    Last week: 10 #genebanks from around the world deposited 39 boxes containing 20,443 seed samples, bringing the Seed Vault’s total to 1,15 M samples. Thank you Australia, Germany, New Zealand, Romania, Slovakia, Sudan, Uganda, @ICARDA & @NordGen for backing-up your seeds with us.

    This week, we welcome 85 boxes full of #cropdiversity to the Vault’s cold rooms! This deposit – the biggest since Feb. 2020 – contained #tomatoes, #watermelon, #beans, #pepper and #sorghum. Among the depositors: @Cipotato, @go_vegetables, @CGN_Wageningen, @Seedsaversx, & @ICARDA

    In 2015 we welcomed the 1st #seed deposit from an indigenous community; the Potato Park backed-up 750 potato seeds. @CropTrust @planttreaty @NordGen @landbrukogmat now launch a competitive grant to support the backing up of more crop diversity. croptrust.org/blog/support-f…

    The deposit from @NordGen contained interesting plants from mountainous areas, including a Norwegian landrace of #rye introduced from #Sweden in the 16th century that was previously grown in eastern and southern #Norway and rescued just before it disappeared.
